CLASSICAL MISSION PROPOSAL Classis Alberta North Home Missions Committee
The Alberta North Home Missions Committee (CHMC) is proposing that our Classis adopt the following strategy for aggressively pursuing the Great Commission through building healthier churches while planting new churches. This three-part strategy calls for us to:
· Unite in prayer around the goal of reaching people for Christ in obedience to the Great Commission.
· Journey together as churches toward congregational renewal and missional effectiveness. (The core of this will involve up to 12 churches taking a two-year learning journey in connection with the Renewal Labs initiative of Calvin Seminary. Each participating church will be represented by their pastor and about 9 other team members.)
· Aim to plant five churches in the next 15 years—an average of one new church every three years—in addition to the current mosaicHouse/Ottewell venture.
Our prayerful hope would be that over the next ten years we will see more people becoming disciples of Christ each year in Classis than we do today, will have more people serving Christ in Classis Alberta North than we do today, and will have established a pattern of membership growth in Classis.
